I am writing to complain about the summer house I rented at your "Happy Holiday Homes" agency. I stayed in the house with my family from June 12th through July 2nd. According to the information in the brochure, all the summer homes you rent out are "spacious, fully-furnished, and handed over neat and clean on the day of arrival." When we arrived, however, we were sorely disappointed to find the state of the house did not meet our expectations. The rubbish bins looked as if they had not been emptied for at least two weeks, and the furniture in the living room was covered in a thick layer of dust. The bed linens were filthy and piled on top of the sofa with cushions, rugs, and bedspreads. In the kitchen there was only one free socket, which meant we weren't able to use the electric kettle and the microwave oven at the same time. We had to keep switching back and forth between the two. The gutter was clogged with old leaves, so we were not able to enjoy the porch when it rained. Water kept splashing on us, which meant we had to stay inside. Finally, one of the pipes in the bathroom was constantly leaking and we could not get it to stop. Instead of enjoying our holiday time, we suffered through many inconveniences. It took us two days just to clear up the mess so that the place was liveable. I have already contacted your agency and was told there was nothing that could be done. I expect to receive a satisfactory explanation and a refund of the price we paid for renting your holiday house. I'm looking forward to your reply.
